A two-day Training on Disaster Management was conducted on 18–19 December 2025 at the Kuemuri Pragatisheel Samaj Seba Sangha, Pathar Pratima. The training was organised to strengthen community preparedness and response capacities in disaster-prone areas.
A total of 26 participants, primarily from river embankment regions, took part in the training along with the trainer. The sessions were facilitated by Mr Dipankar Mondal, who brought practical insights and hands-on guidance to the programme.
The training covered a wide range of disaster management operations, including response to fire hazards, collapsed structures, search and rescue, and casualty management. Participants were trained to perform duties during natural calamities such as cyclones, waterlogging situations, and other emergency scenarios commonly faced in coastal and riverine areas.
Special emphasis was placed on practical skills such as firefighting, first aid, manhole rescue, and evacuation, in line with Civil Defence protocols. The participants were also oriented on assisting in mock drills and public demonstrations at locations such as markets, metro stations, police lines, and other sensitive areas.
In addition, the sessions highlighted the importance of coordination with police, fire services, medical teams, and other agencies during emergencies. Participants were also sensitised on supporting government responsibilities, including election duty, census work, and festival-related deployments when required.
The training concluded with a strong focus on leadership, community awareness, and social responsibility, encouraging participants to promote safety, disaster preparedness, and collective resilience within their communities.
