Who we are

Mukti Switzerland is a Swiss-based non-profit organization working to improve access to quality education in West Bengal, India. Together with our founding NGO partner, Mukti, we support community-led initiatives that strengthen learning, well-being, and opportunities for children, adolescents, and women in the Kolkata and Jhargram districts.

Our vision

In Sanskrit "Mukti" means freedom. Guided by the belief that education expands freedom and life choices, we address barriers to learning, participation, and safety.

Our planned impact for the 1st year

  • 80 first-generation learners supported
  • 350 adolescents benefiting from safe learning environments
  • 2 regions: Kolkata & Jhargram

Our mission

Our mission is to:

  • Provide affordable, quality primary education to 80 first-generation learners from underserved communities
  • Create safe, inclusive learning environments that support academic progress and psychosocial well-being for 350 adolescents
  • Reduce gender inequalities through community engagement and awareness
  • Equip women with teaching skills and livelihood opportunities, strengthening their agency

Aishita Pramanik

President

Aishita Pramanik is an IT professional turned social worker with a Master’s degree in Humanitarian Action. She has worked with various NGOs and international organizations, focusing on community development and social impact. Passionate about supporting children and women, she is committed to promoting their safety, dignity, and empowerment. Since 2014, she has been living in Switzerland, continuing her humanitarian engagement locally and internationally.

Anna Coles

General Secretary

As a graphic designer creating school books, I believe that every small contribution to education matters. It is important to support the growth of confident thinkers, problem solvers and creators - worldwide. In this way, every educational contribution becomes something much larger: empowering the next generation to build a better future.

Vidhya Jagannathan

Program Manager

Vidhya operates at the intersection of logic and compassion. A Senior Scientist at the University of Bern, she merges a technical background in bioinformatics with a steadfast commitment to gender equity. By bringing this analytical rigor to Mukti Switzerland's school-based programs, she ensures that the deeply human mission of safeguarding young people is guided by both scientific precision and heart.

Ambra Spinetta

Communication Manager

Ambra is a humanitarian aid worker with extensive experience in Sub Saharan Africa, where she worked as a Protection Officer and Education Project Manager. Her approach is grounded in field experience and focuses on ethically communicating the realities, needs, and resilience of communities affected by inequality. She is committed to amplifying the voices of children, women, and people with special needs, ensuring their stories are represented with dignity, accuracy, and respect.

Anubhuti Lal

Social media Manager

Anubhuti is an aspiring filmmaker currently studying cinema at an art school in Switzerland. She has always been aware of injustices and her privilege. She is deeply motivated to help others by a sense of solidarity. She has participated in fundraising events by dancing, singing and doing henna. Now she wishes to document and communicate our projects to people.

Aastha Pramanik

Social media Manager

Aastha is someone who loves bringing energy and creativity wherever she goes. She enjoys the whole process of turning a simple idea into something visually interesting that people actually enjoy watching or looking at. A student of economics, she has gained experience working on social media content, posters, and creative visuals. Dance is another field of her interest. She now aims to explore new techniques in editing and digital content to bring fresh ideas to our projects.

Pablo Ghisolfi

IT Manager

Pablo is an IT professional with more than 25 years of experience supporting companies and private customers with IT infrastructure and website development in both Italy and Switzerland. He was introduced to Mukti through personal connections and immediately felt touched by the mission and the people behind it. Passionate about technology and driven by a strong sense of service, Pablo currently works in higher education. Throughout his career, he has always believed that technology should help people and create a positive impact. After learning more about the difficult living conditions faced by many children in India, he felt a deep desire to contribute in a meaningful way. Especially moved by their stories and challenges, he would like to offer his help initially through his IT skills and experience, hoping to support Mukti's projects and bring practical improvements where technology can make a difference .

Nandita is the Head of process technology innovation at Merck Serono SA. She loves to dance for Mukti's fundraising events. Her initiatives are guided by empathy, responsibility, and a commitment to making our community stronger, more inclusive, and more hopeful.

Alok is an IT professional living in Vaud. A graduate from IIT KGP and IIM Calcutta, he loves badminton, drama, and gardening. He lives in Switzerland with his wife and a daughter.
