01. Why the Project is?

Sundarbans region as it is one of the most vulnerable and economically deprived areas in India. With limited access to education and training opportunities, the youth and women in the area struggle to find stable employment and often resort to unsafe and exploitative work. A vocational and skill training program can equip them with skills and knowledge to pursue better livelihood options and improve their socio-economic status. It can also enable them to contribute to the economic growth of the region and uplift their communities, ultimately leading to a more sustainable and prosperous future

02. What the project is?

To promote economic empowerment of vulnerable socio-economic groups in all over the West Bengal, MUKTI has providing different skill development trainings to the women and youth at free of cost in different trades like soft toy making, candle making, jute bags, jute sandals, handicrafts, food processing etc so that they can earn on their own and take the motto of Aatmanirbharbharat ahead

03. How the Project is?

A dedicated team consisting of a program manager, project coordinator, and field supervisor is working tirelessly to identify beneficiaries, locations, and training experts to provide the best training to those in need. The team conducts surveys and needs assessments to prioritize necessary skills and identify high-demand areas.

04. Where the project is?

South24Parganas,Jtragachi New Town ,East&WestMedinipur, Jhargram District.

05. What the impact is?

Over 8000 individuals have been trained across 18 diverse fields, with more than 3500 of them having established successful businesses through market linkages.

Success Story of Regina Bibi

Regina Bibi, a house maid and mother of three, struggled to make ends meet with her husband's meager income as an auto driver. With the help of MUKTI, she learned the art of making soft toys, jute bags, sandals, and dolls. She formed a self-help group and inspired many other women to start their own businesses. Her talent and determination earned her success in various fairs, and she sells her products at profitable prices. Regina's story shows how skill development can empower women to be independent and contribute to their family's income.

Success Story of Anjana

Anjana, a mother of three, faced economic hardship due to the pandemic. However, with her creative skills and determination, she joined the Hasthshilp program at Mukti and learned how to make Jute Sandals and Dolls. She gained expertise in doll-making and began selling her creations at fairs and markets, earning an additional income for her family. Doll-making has given hope to local women who previously had no other source of income. Anjana's success shows that with the right training and support, women can become leaders and entrepreneurs in their communities
