Recognising that education goes beyond textbooks and academic learning, MUKTI organised a two-day interactive Value Education Training of Trainers (ToT) for teachers of Mukti Kishalaya Support Schools (MKSS) on 5 and 6 October 2026 at Purbasridharpur. The training focused on strengthening teachers’ understanding of the Life Skills Module and equipping them with practical approaches to nurture essential values and life skills among children.
The programme marked an important milestone in MUKTI’s Value Education initiative. While previous training sessions had been conducted online through platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom, this was the first offline Value Education ToT, creating opportunities for more direct interaction, collaborative learning, and hands-on participation.
Over the two days, teachers explored important aspects of value education and personal development, including respect, honesty, truthfulness, integrity, self-confidence, emotional well-being, self-care, and mindfulness.
Rather than relying solely on theoretical discussions, the training adopted an activity-based and participatory approach. Through storytelling, role plays, reflection exercises, group activities, and micro-teaching sessions, teachers experienced different ways of introducing these values to children in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
The activities encouraged teachers to reflect on their own experiences, exchange ideas, and explore how everyday classroom situations can become opportunities for children to develop empathy, confidence, emotional awareness, and positive behaviour.
The MKSS teachers participated with remarkable enthusiasm, creativity, and openness throughout the training. Their active involvement in discussions, performances, and practical exercises made the sessions lively and meaningful.
The offline format also allowed teachers to learn from one another, share classroom experiences, and collaboratively explore approaches that could be adapted to their respective learning environments.
Participants shared positive feedback on the training and expressed their interest in attending similar offline sessions in the future. The experience reinforced the value of face-to-face learning opportunities in strengthening teachers’ confidence and preparedness to facilitate value education.
An important aspect of the initiative is its Training of Trainers (ToT) model, designed to ensure that the learning extends beyond the participating teachers and reaches children across MKSS classrooms.
Following the training, the participating teachers will share their learnings with other teachers in the field, who will subsequently facilitate Value Education and Life Skills sessions with MKSS children twice a month.
To support effective implementation, the sessions will be regularly monitored. Teachers requiring additional guidance will receive further capacity-building and handholding support, helping them translate the training into meaningful classroom practices.
This continued engagement aims to ensure that value education becomes an integral part of children’s learning experiences rather than remaining limited to individual training sessions.
Throughout the programme, teachers reflected on the importance of nurturing not only children’s academic abilities but also their emotional, social, and personal development.
The discussions reinforced the understanding that values and life skills are essential to a child’s holistic development, helping children build confidence, understand their emotions, respect others, make responsible choices, and develop positive relationships.
The two-day training at Purbasridharpur was therefore more than a professional development exercise. It was an opportunity to strengthen a shared commitment towards making MKSS classrooms spaces where children can learn, express themselves, reflect, and grow.
Through its Value Education and Life Skills initiative, MUKTI continues to empower teachers to nurture not just young learners, but thoughtful, confident, compassionate, and responsible individuals.
