Four MUKTI fellows participated in Workshop 7 of the ACV Fellowship Batch 2025–26, held from 7th to 9th June 2026 at the DRCSC Field Office, Rajrajeshwaripur, West Bengal. The workshop, titled “Empowering Fellows to Address Critical Issues,” brought together fellows from different organizations to deepen their understanding of the social, environmental, and developmental challenges faced by communities in the Sundarbans.
Over the course of three days, participants engaged in a series of expert-led sessions, group discussions, interactive exercises, and reflective learning activities. The workshop focused on several critical issues affecting the region, including sustainable agriculture, migration, river embankment erosion, displacement and rehabilitation, drinking water scarcity, access to government schemes and entitlements, child marriage, and gender-related vulnerabilities.
The sessions highlighted how these challenges are closely interconnected and impact the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable communities. Through case studies and field-based examples, fellows gained valuable insights into the root causes of these issues and explored community-centred approaches for addressing them.
The workshop also provided an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences from their own field areas, learn from one another, and strengthen their skills in community engagement, problem analysis, and facilitation. The discussions encouraged fellows to think critically about sustainable and inclusive solutions that can empower local communities and amplify their voices.
The participation of MUKTI fellows in the workshop contributed to strengthening their knowledge, leadership abilities, and understanding of grassroots realities. The learning gained through the programme will support them in working more effectively with communities and promoting locally driven development initiatives across the Sundarbans.
