Mukti commemorated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2025 with impactful events observed in three different blocks of the Sundarbans, including Herambagopalpur Village. Through these celebrations, Mukti’s Amplifying Community Voices (ACV) project played a central role in raising the voices of women, celebrating their strength, resilience, and achievements.
The event, organized by Mukti, gathered women from the region to honour their contributions and highlight their aspirations. Mukti’s dedication to women’s empowerment was evident throughout the day, which included vibrant cultural performances, personal stories, and thought-provoking moments.

In Herambagopalpur, a powerful drama performed by local women stood out as one of the day’s most moving moments. These performances highlighted the creativity, strength, and resourcefulness of the women in the region.
Change Stories of Women: Personal Journeys of Triumph
A deeply moving part of the event was the sharing of personal “Change Stories” by women from Herambagopalpur. These stories of courage and determination provided powerful insights into the struggles and successes of local women. Their experiences inspired others in the community, reinforcing the idea that through resilience and perseverance, change is possible.
Magazine Cover Release: Honouring Women’s Achievements
As part of the event, Mukti unveiled the cover of an upcoming magazine that will feature the achievements and stories of women from the Sundarbans as well as their creative writings. The release provided a sneak peek into what will be a special edition celebrating local women’s successes and the impact they’ve made. The full magazine will be published soon, giving these women a platform to share their voices and experiences.
Law Awareness Program: A Joint Initiative with the Lawyer’s Association
In addition to the celebrations in Herambagopalpur, Mukti, in partnership with the Lawyer’s Association, hosted a Law Awareness Program in another location, attended by 150 women from the region. This program, led by the Additional District Judge of Diamond Harbour Criminal Court, was designed to educate women on their legal rights and empower them with knowledge on how to access justice. The initiative emphasized the importance of legal awareness as a vital tool in women’s empowerment and the fight for gender equality.
Mukti is committed to ensuring that women’s voices are heard, respected, and supported across the Sundarbans. Through initiatives like the ACV project and the Law Awareness Program, Mukti continues to work toward creating a future where every woman’s dreams and aspirations are encouraged and valued.
As we reflect on International Women’s Day, Mukti encourages everyone to support the movement for gender equality and empowerment. Together, we can build a world where every woman is given the opportunity to thrive, contribute, and achieve her potential.
Let’s continue the movement for equality, empowerment, and respect.
