Krishna Das comes from a vulnerable background where early marriage was a norm. At just sixteen, her family wanted her to marry, but Krishna had other plans. Determined to continue her education and avoid becoming a child bride, she stood firm against her parents’ wishes, despite the pressure she faced.
She completed her graduation and joined the SURYA Centre in Raidighi with the hope of becoming self-sufficient. At the SURYA Centre, Krishna was professionally groomed, gaining the skills she needed to enter the workforce. Upon completing her DTP course, she was immediately selected for a position as a Trainee in Customer Care at Mukti Community Business (MCB) in Kolkata.
However, moving to Kolkata came with its own challenges. Krishna had to convince her parents once again to let her relocate and live independently as a paying guest. This was another hurdle she faced, but with the encouragement and support from Mukti, she was able to make this transition successfully.
Krishna is incredibly grateful to Mukti for standing by her throughout her journey, empowering her to break away from societal norms and pursue her dreams. She feels that Mukti has given her the tools to not only succeed professionally but also become financially independent. Krishna’s story is one of resilience and determination, and she looks forward to a bright future ahead.
