The “Run for Safe Food” 5Km Run event, organized by MUKTI on 19th January 2025, was a resounding success, bringing together people of all ages to raise awareness about the importance of safe, healthy food options. The event, held at the Organic Haat in Newtown, saw participants from all walks of life come together in support of a cause that is close to the hearts of many—ensuring access to safe and nutritious food for all.
The event kicked off early in the morning, with more than 300 runners—ranging from young children to seasoned adults—lining up at the starting line. Participants were given event T-shirts and medals, and the excitement was palpable as the race got underway. Whether it was to promote healthy living or simply support the cause, the runners were motivated and eager to take on the 5KM challenge.
Among the notable participants was a 75-year-old lady, who proved that age is no barrier to advocating for a healthier world. Her participation inspired many, and she received heartfelt applause as she crossed the finish line.
The competitive edge of the event was highlighted by the awarding of medals to the top three finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories. The winners were celebrated for their impressive performances, but the true spirit of the day was in the collective effort to promote awareness about safe food practices.
Children also had a chance to be part of the action, with several younger participants completing the race alongside their parents and peers. Their involvement in the event emphasized the importance of teaching future generations about the significance of healthy and sustainable food choices.
The event was held at Organic Haat, a local marketplace known for its emphasis on organic produce and sustainable farming practices. The venue provided the perfect backdrop for the run, as participants were able to interact with local vendors and learn more about the benefits of organic food.
MUKTI, expressed gratitude to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported the cause. This run was not just about physical fitness, but also about promoting a healthy, sustainable food system for everyone. As the event came to a close, the atmosphere was filled with a sense of accomplishment and unity. The “Run for Safe Food” proved to be more than just a race—it was a celebration of health, community, and the collective effort needed to ensure a safer, more sustainable food future for all.
