Mukti, in association with “Earth Craft,” organized a skill and enterprise development workshop on January 30, 2024, at Chadni village in the Purba Burdwan district. The event, titled “Water Hyacinth Craft Workshop: Colour Creation,” aimed to empower rural women by imparting skills in water hyacinth craft, thereby introducing it as a sustainable means of livelihood in rural areas.
Mr. Bikram Mitra guided the 10 participating women from the local villages through the crafting of eco-friendly items from water hyacinths. The training equipped them to seamlessly transform this aquatic plant into practical, everyday items such as baskets, containers, vases, dining mats, coasters, and bags.
Beyond the hands-on crafting experience, the workshop fostered a sense of entrepreneurship and self-reliance among the women, envisioning a future where they can leverage their newfound skills to generate income and contribute to the sustainable development of their communities. The event not only celebrated creativity but also laid the foundation for a more resilient and empowered rural society.
