Swastha Shonginis, the frontline health workers who serve as the first point of contact for health issues in rural and remote communities, are being empowered with vital life-saving skills. On 15th October 2025, the Mukti SURYA Project organized a five-day upskilling training program on Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) to enhance their ability to respond effectively during medical emergencies.
The training, conducted by an experienced GNM Nurse, focuses on equipping participants with essential knowledge and hands-on techniques to stabilize patients during critical situations until professional medical assistance becomes available. The program also includes a final examination, after which successful participants will be awarded certificates of completion.
Through this EMT training, Swastha Shonginis are not only strengthening their medical and practical competencies but also building the confidence to act swiftly and effectively in crisis scenarios. This initiative reinforces their pivotal role as trusted and capable health workers within their communities — bridging the gap between rural households and formal healthcare services.
