Under the Swavalamban Accelerator in Sundarban (SWAS 2.0) project, supported by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Mukti organised two hands-on training programmes in September 2025 aimed at strengthening women’s livelihood opportunities through skill enhancement and self-reliance.
From 8th to 14th September 2025, a Kantha Stitch Training was conducted with the participation of 25 women. The week-long workshop provided participants with practical exposure to traditional Kantha embroidery techniques—covering design creation, pattern finishing, and quality enhancement—to help them produce market-ready handcrafted products. The training also encouraged women to explore micro-entrepreneurship and collective marketing through self-help groups.
Following this, from 19th to 21st September 2025, a Cattle Fodder Preparation Training was held for 50 women farmers and livestock rearers. The three-day session focused on developing low-cost, nutritious fodder alternatives using locally available resources. Participants learned about fodder storage, feeding management, and small-scale production techniques to improve livestock productivity and supplement their household income.
Both trainings reflect Mukti’s continued commitment to enabling sustainable rural livelihoods in the Sundarbans. By equipping women with practical skills and entrepreneurial knowledge under the SWAS 2.0 project, Mukti and SIDBI are paving the way for a stronger, self-reliant community ecosystem in one of the most climate-vulnerable regions of India.
