As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening the knowledge and leadership capacities of community volunteers, the Shahoshini Project successfully conducted an online oral assessment to evaluate the learning and practical understanding gained by participants over the past three years of training.
Since the inception of the project, participants have undergone continuous capacity-building sessions on a wide range of subjects, including women’s empowerment, leadership development, gender equality, social awareness, legal rights, prevention of gender-based violence, communication skills, and community engagement. The assessment was designed to measure how effectively participants had internalized these concepts and their ability to apply them in real-life community settings.
To prepare for the assessment, participants devoted nearly one month to regular study and revision. The oral assessment was conducted online through video calls over 24 and 26 July 2026, ensuring accessibility while maintaining a structured and transparent evaluation process. Participants were assessed in four groups, allowing each individual sufficient time to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.
During the assessment, each participant responded to five questions, carrying a total of 25 marks. The questions were carefully designed to evaluate not only subject knowledge but also analytical thinking, communication skills, confidence, and the ability to apply learning to practical community situations. The assessment process focused on encouraging critical thinking and reinforcing the participants’ readiness to take on greater responsibilities within their communities.
The evaluation will help assess participants’ overall learning progress, leadership potential, and preparedness for future roles and activities under the Shahoshini Project. The findings will also support the project team in identifying capacity-building needs and planning future training initiatives to further strengthen community leadership.
The online oral assessment was completed successfully in a well-organized and transparent manner. The participants’ dedicated preparation over the past month, combined with the structured evaluation process, contributed to the smooth conduct of the assessment. Beyond measuring knowledge and skills, the exercise also helped build participants’ confidence and encouraged them to continue playing an active role in promoting women’s empowerment, gender equality, and positive social change within their communities.
The assessment marks another important milestone in the Shahoshini Project’s efforts to nurture informed, confident, and capable women leaders who can drive sustainable community development through awareness, leadership, and collective action.
