In the first week of April, the Mukti Purba Medinipur team took proactive steps to promote healthy food consumption habits by distributing organic fertilizers and compost (known as “Jibamrit”) to 15 organic farmers in Sahara Gram Panchayat under the Egra Block. Spearheading this initiative was Kartik Jana, a Mukti organic farmer and supervisor, who meticulously prepared the fertilizers and compost for distribution among the farmers.
Assisting Kartik in this endeavor was Dr. Krishnendu Achariya, Head of the Botany Department at Calcutta University, a distinguished scientist renowned for his expertise. Dr. Achariya provided invaluable guidance and skillful assistance to ensure the effectiveness of the fertilizers and compost.
Farmers receiving the organic fertilizers were provided with clear instructions on how to apply them in their fields to enhance crop yields and promote soil health. This initiative, though launched in an experimental capacity, marks the beginning of a larger effort to encourage more farmers to adopt organic farming practices. In the near future, the aim is to extend the distribution of organic fertilizers to a wider audience, thereby developing a culture of sustainable agriculture and healthy food production.
