As a step towards promoting sustainable rural development and ecological balance, MUKTI has undertaken a roadside plantation drive at Nagendrapur Gram Panchayat in Mathurapur II Block. This activity falls under the broader umbrella of MUKTI’s Integrated Development initiative, which aims to create holistic improvements in the quality of life across rural South 24 Parganas.
The plantation drive is not just about beautifying the roadsides; it’s a conscious step toward enhancing environmental resilience, reducing carbon footprint, and improving the microclimate of the region. By planting trees along the village roads, MUKTI hopes to provide shade for pedestrians, reduce soil erosion, and contribute to biodiversity conservation in the area.
The program is being implemented in close collaboration with community volunteers, and enthusiastic participation from the local youth, making it a true example of community-led environmental action.
MUKTI envisions expanding this effort to other panchayats in the coming months, continuing to green the landscape of South 24 Parganas one sapling at a time.
