Presentation of Awareness & Empowerment Team

The two projects ACV and VOICE of Mukti are designed to build leadership skills among the backward people of Herambagopalpur and Mathurapur Block II so that they can be aware of their potential and apply it to improve their quality of life.

Team – Ms. Nandita Jayraman, Ms.Amuna Mondal, Ms. Sumita Haldar, Ms. Mamoni Haldar, Mr. Pinaki Naiya, Ms. Panchami Shit , Mr. Apurba Karan and Mr. Shibu Das.

Activities done in last year –

ACV – More than 30 community meetings have been conducted, 40 leaders have been selected, 8 Adolescent groups ( both girls and boys) have been formed, 8 farmers groups have been formed, Organic Farming training started.

VOICE – Women Action Group (WAG) has been formed with 20 members, Gender Sensitization workshops have been conducted among field staff and Women Action Group, One Women team (10 players) started getting football coaching, One under 18 girls football team formation has completed.

Notable Achievements – Community leaders have gradually become capable enough to identify basic gender discrimination, Mukti has been able to reach 600 + people by conducting regular community meetings, Mukti has already been able to provide basic education of gender sensitization to 200 people including women, teenagers, adolescents and men, One woman and one under 18 girls football team has been formed, 180+ adolescents have created 8 groups.

Impact Created Since Inception –

• The community was completely unaware of the concept of gender inequality – A safe space has been created gradually where the women can share their personal thoughts, opinions, values or can share their issues without any insecurity or being judged by others, issues like gender biases are being identified by the community people( By the selected leaders) and by the WAG members by themselves.
• Lack of awareness about adolescent self-achievement – Adolescents are becoming aware of the importance of engagement through various discussion sessions, becoming sensitive and efficient enough to maintain self-achievement.
• Lack of community awareness about the right to information – 1708 information applications have been submitted in 18 Gram Panchayats of the Sundarbans, Resolution has been found in respect of about 1000 applications and 422 awareness camps have been conducted.

Future Planning – Community support for solving social problems, organizing mass campaigns to raise awareness about gender inequality, facilitating community-led disaster preparedness.
