To promote rainwater conservation for agricultural use, pond reconstruction and renovation work has begun in the Baradanagar area under the Nagendrapur Gram Panchayat. This project is a part of Mukti’s environmental and livelihood development initiative, aimed at helping local farmers tackle the issue of water scarcity.
In recent years, rapid drainage of monsoon rainwater and the declining groundwater level have posed significant challenges for farming in the area. In response, Mukti has taken the initiative to rejuvenate abandoned or semi-abandoned ponds, allowing rainwater to be stored and later utilized for irrigation.
The renovation of these ponds is expected not only to support water conservation for agriculture but also to serve as a long-term solution for replenishing the groundwater level. Additionally, this project is creating employment opportunities for local residents.
Mukti believes that the proper use and conservation of natural resources is key to building a sustainable environment for future generations, and the restoration of ponds is a practical step in that direction.
Mukti has also announced plans to implement similar projects in other areas in the future, aiming to further safeguard the lives and livelihoods of farmers on a larger scale.
