Bapi Khuntia is raised in a poor family of Raidighi, South 24 PGS; where agriculture is the main source of earning. He usually used chemical fertilizer to grow the vegetables but after some time he observed that excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticide made his fertile land to an infertile one. As a result the production has decreased which directly hampered his family income. This crucial time he was looking for some alternative which can help him to get his fertile land back. He then came to know about MOFA (Mukti Organic Farmers’ Association) and joined as a farmer in 2014. He then participated in various training programs and meetings organized by Mukti and by using organic farming he is able to get his fertile land back. Now he is producing more vegetables and rice compare to last few years. Bapi is selling the produced goods to local market and getting fair value of his products. Bapi is really satisfied with the organic farming method and now become an advocate of MOFA. He is advising his fellow farmers to increase production at the same time maintaining the fertility of land by implementing organic farming.
