On August 11th, 2024, in celebration of HCL’s 48th Foundation Day, Mukti organized a mega plantation drive with support from the HCL Foundation. Over 750 fruit saplings were planted across Nagendrapur and Kankandighi Gram Panchayats in Mathurapur Block II of South 24 Parganas district as part of the “Mukti Green Defense in Sundarban” project. HCL’s initiative is part of a broader goal to plant 48,000 saplings nationwide.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from more than 40 individuals, including Mukti volunteers, local villagers, MCDF members, Mukti Sathi, and local dignitaries. The program was felicitated by the presence of Mobijul Gazi (Panchayat member), Asrof Molla (Religious leader and Social Worker), and Gofur Molla (Ex-Panchayat Samity member and Social Worker).
This plantation drive is a vital step towards restoring the green cover of Sundarban. It was inspiring to see the community coming together for such an important cause, and the enthusiasm of everyone involved was heartening. Initiatives like this show how collective efforts can bring about meaningful change.
The participants said that being a part of this drive made them proud. They said it felt great to contribute to something that will benefit the environment and the community for generations. They expressed their gratitude to Mukti and HCL Foundation for this initiative. These saplings will not only provide fruits but also enhance the beauty of the village.
