Mukti Urban Project Organizes Free Eye Camp, Benefiting Over 200 Community Members

On 6 August 2026, the Mukti Urban Project successfully organized a Free Eye Camp at Singhee Bagan School in collaboration with Hope Hospital, Kolkata, with the active support of field-level volunteers and local clubs. The initiative was undertaken to improve access to quality eye care services and raise awareness about the importance of regular eye examinations among community members.

The camp received an overwhelming response, with 203 beneficiaries availing themselves of comprehensive eye screening services provided by experienced eye care professionals. Following the examinations, 137 individuals were identified as requiring vision correction and were provided with free spectacles, enabling them to improve their vision and carry out their daily activities more comfortably.

The programme highlighted the importance of early detection and timely intervention in preventing avoidable vision impairment. By bringing essential eye care services directly to the community, the initiative helped remove barriers to healthcare access, particularly for economically vulnerable individuals who may otherwise be unable to afford routine eye examinations or corrective eyewear.
