Reaffirming its commitment to improving access to quality healthcare for vulnerable urban communities, the Mukti Urban Project organised a Free Health Camp on 21 July 2026 at the premises of Singhi Bagan High School, Kolkata. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with B. P. Poddar Hospital and the Rotary Aabahamaan Club, with the objective of providing specialist medical services while promoting preventive healthcare, early diagnosis, and timely medical intervention.
The health camp focused particularly on Cardiology and Gastroenterology, offering economically disadvantaged residents an opportunity to receive expert medical consultation and essential diagnostic services free of cost. The entire programme was generously sponsored by the Rotary Aabahamaan Club, reflecting the importance of collaborative partnerships in expanding healthcare access to underserved communities.
A team of specialist doctors and healthcare professionals from B. P. Poddar Hospital conducted consultations and provided comprehensive health screenings. Beneficiaries received cardiology and gastroenterology consultations, along with electrocardiograms (ECG), blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, weight measurements, and free medicines for mothers and children following medical consultation. Participants were also provided with appropriate referral advice and follow-up guidance wherever further treatment was required.
The camp witnessed an encouraging response from the local community, with 88 beneficiaries availing themselves of the free healthcare services. The comprehensive screening process also enabled the early identification of 11 patients with suspected cardiac conditions, who were referred for further medical evaluation and treatment, highlighting the critical role of preventive health screening in reducing the risk of serious health complications.
Beyond medical consultations, the programme also served as an important platform for raising awareness about preventive healthcare and encouraging community members to seek timely medical attention. By bringing specialist healthcare services closer to those with limited access, the initiative contributed towards improving health awareness and promoting healthier communities.
Mukti Urban Project extends its sincere gratitude to the Rotary Aabahamaan Club for sponsoring the entire health camp, and to B. P. Poddar Hospital for providing specialist doctors, healthcare professionals, diagnostic support, and their commitment to follow-up care for patients requiring further medical attention. The organisation also thanks Singhi Bagan High School for providing the venue and logistical support, as well as all volunteers, community leaders, and Mukti team members whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth and successful execution of the programme.
Through such collaborative healthcare initiatives, Mukti Urban Project continues to strengthen access to affordable, quality healthcare for underserved communities, reinforcing its commitment to preventive healthcare, early diagnosis, and the overall well-being of vulnerable populations.
