As part of World Mental Health Week, MUKTI SURYA conducted an interactive workshop on “Mental Wellbeing, Digital Safety & Cyber Security” at Raidighi College on 8 October 2026. Organised at the request of the college, the programme brought together 102 students for an engaging session focused on emotional wellbeing, stress management, responsible digital behaviour, and online safety.
The workshop aimed to equip young people with practical knowledge and everyday strategies to navigate emotional challenges while staying informed and safe in an increasingly digital world.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Sasabindu Jana, Principal of Raidighi College, who addressed the students and highlighted the growing importance of mental wellbeing, responsible digital practices, and cyber security awareness.
His address emphasised the need for students to develop a better understanding of their emotional health while remaining cautious and responsible in their use of digital platforms.
The mental wellbeing session encouraged students to reflect on their thoughts, emotions, and everyday experiences through engaging group activities and open discussions.
One of the key activities, “Fact or Fear,” encouraged students to examine their thought patterns, distinguish between facts and fear-driven assumptions, and explore ways to develop healthier and more balanced thinking.
Another activity, “Stress vs. Eustress,” helped participants understand the different aspects of stress, including how certain levels of stress can be motivating while excessive or prolonged stress may negatively affect wellbeing.
Through these exercises, students explored the importance of emotional awareness, healthy coping strategies, stress management, and seeking support when needed.
Recognising the increasing role of technology in students’ daily lives, the workshop also addressed essential aspects of digital safety and cyber security.
The session covered important topics such as:
A practical Password Generation Activity allowed students to apply their learning by exploring how to create stronger passwords and improve the security of their digital accounts.
The discussions encouraged students to recognise potential online threats, question suspicious digital interactions, and adopt safer practices while using technology.
A notable aspect of the workshop was the enthusiastic participation of the students. Rather than being limited to presentations, the sessions encouraged group interaction, experience-sharing, practical exercises, and open conversations.
Students actively engaged with the facilitators, shared their perspectives, and participated in discussions connecting the topics to situations they may encounter in their everyday lives.
The interactive approach helped make complex subjects such as emotional wellbeing and cyber security more accessible, relatable, and easier to understand.
Feedback from both the students and Raidighi College was highly positive, with participants appreciating the practical, relevant, and engaging nature of the workshop.
The workshop reinforced the importance of addressing mental wellbeing and digital safety together, recognising that both play an increasingly significant role in the lives of young people.
By encouraging emotional awareness, healthy coping mechanisms, informed decision-making, and responsible digital behaviour, the initiative sought to help students become more confident in managing both personal and online challenges.
