On 14 September 2026, the MUKTI SURYA Skill Development Centre organised a Skill Awareness Programme and Cyber Security Workshop at Chapla High School (Main) as part of its ongoing efforts to engage young people in career-oriented learning, employability and responsible use of digital technology.

The programme brought together students of Classes X and XI and focused on two increasingly important areas for young people today — developing practical skills for future education and employment, and staying safe in an increasingly digital world.

During the skill awareness session, students were encouraged to look beyond conventional academic pathways and think about their individual interests, abilities and future aspirations. The discussion highlighted the growing importance of practical and vocational skills alongside formal education, particularly as employment opportunities continue to evolve. Students were also introduced to the skill-development and livelihood-oriented opportunities available through the MUKTI SURYA Skill Development Centre.

The second part of the programme focused on cyber security and responsible digital behaviour. With smartphones, social media and online platforms becoming an integral part of students’ everyday lives, the workshop addressed common risks they may encounter while using digital services.

Students learned about phishing, fraudulent links, OTP and password scams, fake social-media profiles and different forms of online fraud. Practical examples were used to explain the importance of creating strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, protecting personal information and verifying messages or links before responding to them. The session also encouraged students to think carefully about what they share online and to use digital platforms responsibly.

Both sessions were conducted in an interactive manner, allowing students to ask questions, share their own experiences and discuss situations they had encountered online. Their active participation reflected a strong interest in understanding both future career opportunities and the challenges associated with digital technology.

The programme also strengthened MUKTI SURYA’s engagement with the local school community and created an opportunity to connect students with future skill-development initiatives. Feedback from students and school representatives highlighted the need for continued awareness programmes on career planning, vocational education, employability skills and cyber safety in the Raidighi region.

Through initiatives such as these, the MUKTI SURYA Skill Development Centre continues to support rural youth in building practical skills, making informed career choices, navigating digital spaces safely and preparing themselves for more sustainable livelihood opportunities.
