On 30th August 2025, Mukti organized a specialized training session on vector-borne diseases for 23 Swastha Shonginis (rural health workers) at Raidighi, under the guidance of Dr. Kasturi. The session was facilitated by Dr. Shivani Goswami, former Head of SUDA, Urban Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of Swastha Shonginis in the prevention, early detection, and awareness generation of malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and other vector-borne diseases.
Key sessions included technical inputs from Dr. Goswami on disease symptoms, transmission, and preventive measures, practical guidance on household and community-level interventions, and interactive discussions to address field challenges. Pre- and post-training assessments revealed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and confidence.
The training outcomes were notable: Swastha Shonginis reported increased confidence in identifying and addressing vector-borne diseases, and strategies for community-level health awareness were strengthened. Organizers recommended periodic refresher trainings to sustain capacity building among rural health workers.
The session concluded successfully, equipping participants with practical knowledge and confidence to make a tangible impact on community health. Mukti expects this initiative to significantly enhance prevention and awareness of vector-borne diseases in the region.
