Mukti Organized Second Conference on Women Empowerment in Cooch Behar

On the third day of their trip, after the first conference with the ASFHM (Advanced Society for Headmaster and Headmistress) of Alipurduar, on 23^rd October 2021, Saturday Mukti organize another conference with the ASFHM team of Cooch Behar at the conference hall, Charu Arcade of hotel Yubraaj. The conference starts at 10 AM and continued till 1 PM.

Among the distinguished guests present on the occasion are the inaugural Paresh Chandra Adhikari (State Minister for Education, Government of West Bengal), Special Guest Shri Amarendra Nath Basak, Retired Headmaster, Mr. Shankar Haldar, Founder- President of Mukti, Mr. Satyajit Ray, Secretary of Mukti, Mr. Debabrata Haldar, CEO of Mukti, Mr. Chandan Maity, General Secretary of ASFHM, Mr. Ranjit Kumar Sen, Mr. Upasan  Acharya, President of ASFHM Cooch Behar, Mr. Debashish Pal Secretary, ASFHM, Cooch Behar, Mr. Manas Bhattacharya, Secretary, ASFHM, Alipurduar, Mrs. Tanushree Pal and Mrs. Rasmita Talukdar from Anubhuti -NGO and other distinguished guests were especially welcomed by the Honorable Headmistress ASFHM, Cooch Behar.

After the welcome speech of Mr. Upasan  Acharya, the chairperson of the meeting, the enchanting music of the headmistresses of different schools of Cooch Behar fascinated everyone.

Before the main discussion, Mr. Chandan Kumar Maity introduces the Mukti officials to all the distinguished guests present and also explains the importance of the100 Oxygen Concentrators supported by Mukti for Covid Public Welfare. He also describes the medical social work of Mukti. Explaining the role of Mukti in the cause of women’s empowerment, he appealed to all to participate in the development of the state and to attend the forthcoming state-level conference. He further explained the role of Mukti in the development of the backward areas of the Sundarbans.

On this day, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Education congratulated all those present and expressed satisfaction over the role of Mukti. He said that if he had a clear idea about the Mission & Vision of Mukti, he would have asked the State Minister of Backward Welfare to be present. He was impressed by the meaningful interpretation of the name Mukti and commended the headmasters/teachers for their participation in such a noble cause and promised to hold preliminary discussions to address the issue of salaries of headmasters/teachers.

The special guest of the meeting, Mr. Shankar Haldar, in his speech lauds the rapid growth of ASFHM. He adds emerging from a backward area like Sundarban and after getting established he with his friend Mr. Satyajit Ray is working for the betterment of those vulnerable populations of Sunderban. At that time there was a need for an ideal teacher. The person we found later was none other than the renowned headmaster Mr. Chandan Kumar Maity. Explaining the responsibility of teachers towards social responsibility and creative work as well as comparing women with Goddess Durga, he said that behind all this, the role of an ideal headteacher is immense and inevitable. Therein lies the key to “women’s empowerment.”

Mr. Satyajit Ray, the secretary of Mukti, did not go into a lengthy discussion and started discussing the areas of Mukti’s work directly; HEALER -Health, Education, Agriculture, Livelihood, Environment and Right. With these six objectives, Mukti is moving forward in the 21st century with the goal of integrated development. Local resources should be used to implement creative activities, not external ones. In order to improve the quality of the educational institutions, a “Book Bank” and morning-afternoon special coaching classes can be arranged to meet the needs of the students. If the educated girls of the area are engaged in teaching the primary level students, arrangements are made to pay a part of their salary. In the field of higher education, there is a system of financial assistance for poor, meritorious students.

He noted that the role of Mukti in dealing with natural disasters like Ayla, Amphan and Yaas is significant. 20,000 people have already been trained under 4,000 Mukti warriors. Mukti serves as a catalyst or motivator in providing financial support to women’s associations (SHG), self-reliance through nurseries, arrangements for Mangrove Plantation in the Sundarbans, etc. To make women aware of their rights as well as more intensive implementation, it is important to come forward with the installation.

In the implementation of these, the financial support, the sympathy of the national, international level patronage, kind people and individuals is especially desirable.  Mukti has good relations with the world’s best organizations like Facebook and Tata. In the meantime, at least 100 constructive social organizations are supporting Mukti at the state, national and international levels. One of the goals of Mukti is to involve oneself in multifaceted social work.

Mr. Debabrata Haldar talks about the fragmentary problems, meritocracy, inadequacy of books, provision of vocational training, the importance of “Of the people, for the people, by the people”, employing educated unemployed people. He insists on trying to get involved. He mentioned various social activities such as providing water to the people at low cost, an unprecedented response to the “Hello Beta” project. He emphasizes on Social / Special Coaching (V-X) provides partial financial support to students and teachers, women’s self-reliance through the MCDF Project, and the provision of more Oxygen Concentrators.

Mr. Amalendu Barman in his very short speech highlighted two very important issues “Value-Based Development” & Sustainable Change. Special Guest Mr. Amarendra Nath Basak mentioned the social responsibility and responsibility of a headteacher.

Mr. Manas Bhattacharya expresses his gratitude to all for holding the first annual general meeting in the Alipurduar district this year on the path shown by Cooch Behar.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Upasan Acharya, the chairman of the meeting, congratulated everyone and announce the end of the meeting by praising the host of the event – Mr. Jayant Kumar Pal.

After the conference, Mukti Officials visit Gora Para, a tribal village. They talk with the indigenous (Adibasi) people there and want to know their problems and needs.
