Mukti Launches the VOICE Sunderban Project to Strengthen Women’s Leadership and Community Empowerment

On 27 June 2026, Mukti officially launched the VOICE Sunderban Project, supported by Prabashi, marking the beginning of a new initiative dedicated to empowering women and strengthening community leadership across the Sundarbans.

The inaugural programme was held at the Baikunthapur Shishu Seva Kendra Hall and brought together community representatives from different parts of the region. The event was attended by six women leaders from Kultali, six women leaders from Pathar Pratima, four community leaders from Kakdwip, along with members of Mukti’s team. Their presence reflected a shared commitment to building stronger, safer, and more inclusive communities through collective action.

The launch served as an opportunity to introduce the vision and objectives of the VOICE Sunderban Project, which aims to empower women through awareness generation, capacity building, leadership development, and active community engagement. By equipping women with knowledge, skills, and platforms for participation, the project seeks to enable them to become confident decision-makers and changemakers within their families and communities.

The participants engaged in discussions on the importance of collaboration, community ownership, and collective responsibility in addressing local challenges. The programme also laid the foundation for future activities under the project, with a strong focus on creating opportunities for women to lead initiatives that promote social inclusion, resilience, and sustainable development.

The successful launch marks the beginning of a collaborative journey involving community leaders, local stakeholders, and Mukti’s dedicated team. Together, they will work towards fostering an environment where women are empowered to raise their voices, exercise their rights, and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.
