Mukti is Constructing Dome Staircase in One of the Housing Beneficiaries House
One of the housing beneficiaries of Mukti, Mr. Alok Kumar Halder is constructing a dome structured staircase in his house at Purba Sridharpur village under Mathurapur block II of Sundarban. He is an experienced mason working for the housing projects of Mukti. He has constructed the first-floor roof of his own house, imitating the shell roofing of the Mukti model houses.
The dome staircase is basically a circular staircase made of concrete. The stairs are self-supporting based on a simple cantilever design. Without center support, the stair loads were designed to be carried by the landing and the wall.
Under the supervision of senior architect Mr. Laurent Fournier the dome staircase is being built as a pilot project of Mukti. If the project proves successful, this kind of staircase will be constructed in some more houses in Mukti village.
