As part of its continued efforts to promote adolescent mental health and life skills education, facilitators from the Mukti Kolkata Urban Project participated in the second Training of Trainers (ToT) for the NIMHANS Life Skills Module on 22 July 2026. The training was held at the Department of Applied Psychology, Rajabazar Science College, University of Calcutta.
The programme is being implemented in collaboration with the University of Calcutta and is supported by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The Training of Trainers forms an important component of the initiative, equipping facilitators with the knowledge, skills, and practical approaches required to effectively deliver the Life Skills Module to adolescents.
During the training, participants further strengthened their understanding of the module’s objectives, facilitation techniques, and participatory learning methods. The sessions focused on enabling facilitators to confidently engage adolescents through interactive activities that foster essential life skills, emotional well-being, effective communication, decision-making, problem-solving, empathy, and resilience.
The training also served as a platform for participants to clarify concepts, share experiences, and enhance their preparedness for field implementation. The knowledge and practical insights gained during the programme will support facilitators in delivering engaging and impactful sessions for adolescents.
Following the successful completion of the second ToT, the Mukti Kolkata Urban Project team is now preparing for the field implementation of the NIMHANS Life Skills Module with adolescents aged 13–15 years, scheduled to commence from mid-August 2026. Through this initiative, Mukti aims to empower young people with essential life skills that will enable them to make informed decisions, build healthy relationships, and navigate everyday challenges with confidence and resilience.
