After floods, risk of spread of water-borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, diarrhoea and vomiting is haunting residents of flood-affected areas in Sundarban. As the flood water recedes, the horrible picture of contamination is visible in every corner of the affected villages.
The areas must be cleaned and disinfect quickly otherwise the villagers can suffer from serious health issues.
Bleaching powder is drinking water disinfectants and is effective against almost all waterborne diseases.
Mukti volunteers wearing mask and gloves spreading bleaching powder all over the locality. Mukti is also distributing bleaching powder with the ration kit so that every villager can disinfect their own house and surroundings.
