Mukti Celebrates the 80th Independence Day Across Communities with Unity, Patriotism and Hope

15 August 2026 | Across Mukti’s Programme Areas

Mukti celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with enthusiasm, patriotic spirit and a strong sense of community across its various programme areas. From rural villages and community institutions to schools, Self-Help Groups and Mukti campuses, the occasion brought together children, women, youth, students, volunteers, community members and Mukti team members to celebrate the nation’s freedom and reaffirm their collective responsibility towards building a stronger and more inclusive society.

At Mukti Muktangan Campus, the celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag in the presence of a large gathering of villagers, Mukti Sathis and students. The campus altar was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and the flag was hoisted amidst patriotic slogans, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by all participants. A cultural programme was subsequently organised by the cultural unit, featuring enthusiastic participation and messages from dignitaries on the importance of Independence Day, patriotism and the responsibilities of citizens.

In Egra, Purba Medinipur, Mukti Sathis organised a special Independence Day programme featuring flag hoisting and a football tournament. Eight teams from Sahada, Panch Rol and R.B.C. Gram Panchayats participated in the competition, bringing together young people through sport and community participation. The teams securing the first, second and third positions were felicitated with Mukti jerseys, trophies, medals, notebooks and pens. The programme was attended by local representatives, social workers, teachers, Mukti well-wishers, Mukti Sathis and members of the Mukti team, making the celebration an occasion of both sporting enthusiasm and community engagement.

At the Mukti Self-Help Group branch in Kakdwip, the 80th Independence Day was observed with a special emphasis on the strength and leadership of women. More than a hundred mothers participated in the celebration and joined in the flag-hoisting ceremony, led by the organisation’s President, Smt. Benu Rani Jana. The programme carried a message encouraging the awakening of women’s collective strength and concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to working together for a better future.

At Mukti Bio Village, the Independence Day celebration carried a meaningful social message. Participants came together not only to mark the nation’s 80th year of Independence but also to take a collective pledge to give up harmful habits and make positive changes in their lives and communities.

The Mukti Kishalaya Support School (MKSS) and Mukti Support School (MSS) centres also celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm. Students, parents, youth and volunteers came together to mark the occasion, while all our students across different centres participated in celebrations with patriotic fervour and joy. These programmes provided children and young people with an opportunity to understand the significance of freedom, citizenship and their role in shaping the future of the country.

Across all these celebrations, the spirit of Independence Day extended beyond the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag. The programmes reflected Mukti’s continued emphasis on community participation, women’s empowerment, youth engagement, education, healthy lifestyles, social responsibility and collective action.

The 80th Independence Day celebrations served as a reminder that the true spirit of freedom lies not only in remembering the past, but also in taking responsibility for the future—by building communities that are inclusive, empowered, resilient and united.
