Rural women entrepreneurs supported under Mukti’s SWAS 2.0 (Swavalamban Accelerator in Sundarban) project participated in a series of community melas organised as part of Mukti’s ongoing Melay Mukti campaign. The SWAS 2.0 project is supported by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
As part of the campaign, women entrepreneurs set up stalls at melas held in Purba Sridharpur, Kankandighi, Kakdwip, Radhakantapur, and Nagendrapur, creating local market spaces to showcase and sell their products. The melas offered direct interaction with community members and provided practical exposure to real-time sales and customer engagement.
The stalls featured a range of products made by the women entrepreneurs, including processed food items, soft toys, costume jewellery, and handicrafts. The product diversity reflected the skills, creativity, and enterprise capacities developed through the SWAS 2.0 programme.
Participation in Melay Mukti helped the women gain confidence, understand consumer preferences, and test market demand for their products. The experience also strengthened their visibility as entrepreneurs within their own communities.
Through SWAS 2.0, Mukti continues to support women-led micro-enterprises in the Sundarban by combining skill development, handholding, and market linkage. Platforms like Melay Mukti further extend this effort by creating accessible spaces for rural women to take their enterprises forward.
