A cyclonic circulation and a related low-pressure caused very heavy rainfall all over West Bengal on 28th and 29th July 2021. An entire state got submerged under the floodwater.
The massive flooding triggered by the depression impacted the Sundarbans islands that are still reeling from the devastation caused by Cyclone Yaas. Large swathes of agricultural lands, fisheries, vegetations, houses, betel leaf plantations, roads are under waist-deep water. Rivers, canals, ponds, lakes have all merged with each other and appearing like a large river.
The floodwater has seeped into the houses. Villagers with their children and cattle are somehow spending their days together in that flooded house in utter starvation. They are worried about their uncertain future.
