HCL Foundation’s Field Visit at Mukt Gram

Mukti stands poised at an exciting juncture after being selected for the 9th Edition of the HCLTech Grant award. Progressing through the stages, Mukti has now advanced to Stage 4 – the critical Field Visit Due Diligence Round, focused on their pioneering project titled “Mukti Green Defence in Sundarbans (MEDS).”

Following the established protocol, Dr. Udita Ghosh Sarkar, representing the HCL Foundation, coordinated a field visit to Mukti Gram, at Purba Sridharpur, on December 5th, 2023.

Accompanied by key stakeholders from the project and Mukti’s senior leadership, Dr. Ghosh Sarkar toured the diverse plantation sites of mangrove, vetiver, Dragon fruit, coconut, and an array of other strategically planted flora intended not only to fortify river embankments but also to foster sustainable livelihoods for the local community.

Engaging directly with the beneficiaries, Dr. Ghosh Sarkar conducted discussions, delving into the impact and benefits derived from this transformative project. The session served as an invaluable opportunity to estimate firsthand the tangible differences and improvements experienced by those directly involved in MEDS.

Overall, the field visit was a rich experience, allowing Dr. Ghosh Sarkar and the accompanying team to witness real results of Mukti’s dedicated efforts in environmental conservation and community empowerment within the Sundarbans.
