On 1st October 2025, the Climate Club members carried out their second field activity under the Sabujer Abhijaan campaign during the Durga Puja celebrations at Heramba Gopalpur Gram Panchayat, Patharpratima, in the Sundarbans. The visit came after two months of dedicated preparation by the young environmentalists.
On Nabami, eight enthusiastic members visited local Puja committees to assess the extent to which eco-friendly practices were adopted in community festivities. The children designed their own questionnaire and interacted with both Puja organizers and local residents to understand the measures being taken for sustainable celebrations. Using a set of eco-friendly indicators developed by them, they collectively analyzed and rated the Pujas based on their environmental responsiveness.
This hands-on learning experience not only enhanced the members’ understanding of sustainability in cultural contexts but also motivated community stakeholders to consider greener approaches to traditional celebrations.
Supported under the Amplifying Community Voices (ACV) Consortium, of which Mukti is an active partner, the initiative sought to promote awareness on Green Festivals and encourage the community to adopt eco-conscious, inclusive, and sustainable festive practices—fostering harmony between culture and nature.
