From the fields to the running track, farmers stepped forward to spread awareness about safe food, healthy living, and sustainable agriculture through a special promotional run organised as part of MUKTI’s Run for Safe Food 2027 campaign.
Bringing together farmers and members of the rural community, the initiative celebrated the people whose hard work forms the foundation of our food system. Set against the backdrop of agricultural fields, the promotional run reflected the campaign’s central message: safe food begins with healthy farming practices and the people who nurture our land.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local farmers, who gathered with numbered bibs and awareness messages highlighting the importance of safe food, healthy soil, and responsible agricultural practices.
Several participants carried handwritten Bengali slogans emphasising the connection between farming, soil health, nutritious food, and human well-being. These messages brought a distinctive community voice to the campaign, demonstrating how farmers themselves can become advocates for safer and healthier food systems.
Beyond physical fitness, the run encouraged community participation and reinforced the importance of recognising farmers as essential partners in building a healthier society.
Following the run, a prize distribution ceremony was organised to recognise and encourage participants. Agricultural utility items, including watering cans, and other gifts were presented to participants, reflecting the event’s connection with farming and rural livelihoods.
The gathering also included a community meal, offering participants an opportunity to come together and celebrate their collective involvement in the initiative.
The event demonstrated how a simple running activity can create meaningful conversations around food safety while strengthening community relationships.
Through Run for Safe Food 2027, MUKTI aims to build greater public awareness about the relationship between food safety, farming practices, physical well-being, and environmental sustainability.
The farmers’ promotional run brought this connection to life by placing agricultural communities at the centre of the movement. Their participation served as a reminder that the journey towards safe food must involve everyone, from those who cultivate the land to those who consume its produce.
As preparations continue for Run for Safe Food 2027, scheduled for 14 February 2027 at Eco Park, New Town, Kolkata, this community initiative adds momentum to the larger campaign for healthier people, safer food, and sustainable farming.
When farmers run for safe food, they carry a message that goes far beyond the finish line.
