October is globally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of early detection and regular screening. In observance of this, Mukti organized a Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp on 4th October 2024, Friday in collaboration with the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Cancer Institute. The event took place at the Pathar Pratima block in South 24 Parganas district and was led by renowned oncologist Dr. Anindya Sen.
The camp, aimed at women from economically weaker sections of society, saw the participation of 45 women, all of whom received valuable information on breast cancer awareness. Mukti’s dedicated team of four health workers played a pivotal role in organizing and conducting the camp. Among the participants, six women were identified with potential cancer concerns and were promptly referred to the hospital for further diagnosis and treatment.
In addition to the breast cancer screenings, hospital staff also offered blood sugar and blood pressure check-ups, providing a more holistic health assessment. The camp was met with enthusiasm and a high level of engagement from the attendees, reinforcing the importance of community-driven health initiatives in rural areas.
