The delegation arrived at Kankandighi Bio-Village on 6th December and was warmly welcomed with flowers at the Mukti Muktangan campus. They met local farmers and gained first-hand understanding of sustainable livelihood interventions being implemented in the area. The visitors toured several rejuvenated ponds that are currently supporting irrigation and fish farming, and inspected newly initiated biogas plants that are helping households adopt clean and affordable energy. The team also interacted with the beneficiaries who have been supported with cows for dairy-based livelihoods, discussing their income improvements and future prospects.
On the following day, 7th December, the delegation visited Purba Sridharpur where they observed the functioning of the burning ghat constructed under Mukti’s community infrastructure programme and reviewed the crab project, through which local families are earning sustainable income. They also met the beneficiaries who have been provided Model Houses, and one of the Model Houses was formally inaugurated by Mr. Agarwal and Mr. Pansari, marking a proud moment for the villagers and the project team.
After the field visit, the delegation interacted with boat and fishing-net supported beneficiaries at Nagendrapur Onchir Ghat, learning how fishing livelihood support has contributed to steady income generation. Post lunch, a review meeting was held with the Nagendrapur Working Committee members at the Muktangan campus, where completed and ongoing initiatives were evaluated. The discussions resulted in new action plans aimed at strengthening programme delivery, accountability, and long-term sustainability.
The visit concluded with an in-depth conversation on the key parameters required to build a true model village, focusing on livelihood security, social infrastructure, environmental sustainability, community ownership, and empowerment of vulnerable households.
The two-day visit reinforced Mukti’s commitment to transparent implementation and collaborative rural development. The valuable insights and encouragement shared by the visiting dignitaries will further inspire the Mukti Gram model to evolve as a benchmark for sustainable and inclusive community development.
