On the eve of World Mangrove Day 2025, Mukti, with the support of Anmol Industries Limited, launched a community-led mangrove plantation initiative along the riverbank of Dakshin Kankandighi, under Kankandighi Gram Panchayat.
This new project marks the beginning of a natural, climate-resilient intervention to combat riverbank erosion and restore ecological balance. Over the course of the initiative, 23,000 mangrove saplings and vetiver grass will be planted — forming a living barrier to protect vulnerable embankments.
The plantation drive is rooted in community participation. Ten SHG women have been engaged in this effort, alongside Mukti Sathis, highlighting the importance of local ownership in environmental conservation. The initiative not only promotes green restoration but also supports women-led livelihood opportunities in climate-vulnerable regions.
Through collective action, Mukti continues to translate climate commitments into grounded, community-driven solutions for long-term resilience.
