Twenty years is a fairly long time in a human life; a child grows into an adult in less than twenty years. For an organization, however, twenty years is not a very long period. It may be considered the formative years, when the organization starts taking strides in a direction aligned with its objectives.
Mukti, as an NGO, started its journey from the nascent stage of a mere concept some twenty years ago. Since then, it has traversed its path with a clear awareness and focus on creating self-belief among the underserved people of this state who need a helping hand. It aims to realize the capacity of human resilience against all adversities—be they natural, economic, or social oppression and exploitation—in the villages of Bengal. In these areas, where the fury of nature challenges everyday life, hope and resilience were rekindled through initial hand-holding followed by a desired level of self-sustenance.
Mukti Barta also started its journey within this process of transformation. As a periodical, it captures the thoughts and images of these changes quietly taking place in the remote corners of Bengal. Health, education, livelihood, agriculture, environment, rights, and awareness—Mukti Barta began capturing the journey of this movement of transformation through its pages.
What started as a chronicle of happenings across villages has now become a reliable source of information, thoughts, ideas, and creativity as it reaches its 100th edition—a milestone that all of us are so proud of.
It is a colorful, vibrant periodical that captures the moods of the villages, archiving the changes and transformations happening month after month by collating facts, narrating stories, and showcasing the modest yet firm steps Mukti has been taking.
As the organization’s mouthpiece, it spreads its wings beyond cities and countries through its digital versions in both English and Bengali. Partners, associates, Mukti Sathis—the committed and passionate companions of this journey—and, above all, the beneficiaries rising to the occasion of this transformation with self-belief, all stay connected through this periodical. Now a fortnightly publication, it is beginning to take shape for the future.
Ideas keep changing. It is extremely important to remain connected and bring forth these ideas as we move forward in this journey of freedom, in its true sense, through empowerment. We look forward to newer ideas and thoughts as we progress in this journey, which will help us adapt to this extremely dynamic communication environment.
May Mukti Barta bring joy and hope to all stakeholders with its evolving expressions and mood as we step forward!
