On 19th September 2025, a Cervical Cancer Screening and Awareness Camp was organized at No. 6 Sona Tikari under the Swastha Songini Program, supported by Kolkata Foundation and implemented by Mukti. A total of 66 women from the community actively participated in the awareness camp, while 28 women underwent cervical cancer screening tests.
The camp was conducted by experts from CNCI (Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute) with the objective of creating awareness about cervical cancer and providing free screening facilities. Prior to the camp, Mukti’s dedicated health workers played a pivotal role in mobilizing participants by conducting awareness sessions on the importance of early detection and encouraging women to come forward for screening. Their efforts ensured maximum participation in the program.
During the camp, women received thorough screening as well as counselling on preventive measures, healthy lifestyle practices, and the importance of regular health check-ups. CNCI also assured that any patient detected with cancer would be provided free treatment under their support.
Mukti expresses its sincere gratitude to CNCI for their invaluable contribution in conducting the camp and extending free treatment facilities, as well as to Kolkata Foundation for their continued support. Special appreciation goes to the Swastha Songinis for their tireless dedication in spreading awareness and ensuring strong community participation.
This initiative marks a meaningful step toward improving women’s health and preventing cervical cancer in rural communities of the Sundarbans.
