Mukti is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the elocution competition held on June 5th, 2023, among the talented students of Mukti Support School (MSS). We extend our warmest wishes and heartfelt congratulations to all the participants for their dedicated efforts. In recognition of their exceptional speaking skills in English, Mukti will present two special prizes, along with prizes for the first, second, and third-place winners in various categories. The deserving students will receive one first prize, three-second prizes, and three third prizes.
In commemoration of “World Environment Day,” Mukti organized an inspiring elocution competition for the MSS students. Across five districts of West Bengal, a total of 65 MSS came together to celebrate this special day. Mukti is delighted to witness the enthusiastic participation of 84 students in the elocution competition. The competition was open to students from classes 7 to 10 and was conducted in both English and Bengali. We applaud these students for bravely raising their voices for a noble cause—their right to a better environment. They showcased their talents and shattered all expectations, proving that they are no less capable than students from privileged private schools.
The topics chosen by the students for their elocution speeches revolved around pressing environmental issues. They passionately spoke about the impact of global warming on the Sundarbans, the submergence of Ghoramara Island and the plight of other similar islands, the struggles faced by farmers due to high water salinity, the endangered status of the precious mangrove forests and their role in protecting the island inhabitants, the devastating effects of natural disasters like Ayla, Amphan, and Covid on the Sundarbans’ economy, the alarming pollution caused by rampant plastic usage, the detrimental effects of plastic waste on the island’s ecosystem, the role of plastics in clogging drains and causing man-made floods during the rainy season, the distinction between good and bad plastics, the responsibility for the loss of biodiversity in the Sundarbans Islands due to global warming, and the urgent need to safeguard the world’s largest mangrove forest, a UNESCO declared World Heritage site.
We commend these young orators for their profound understanding of these crucial environmental issues and their ability to articulate their concerns effectively. Their speeches have not only raised awareness but have also inspired us all to take action and protect our fragile ecosystem.
Once again, Mukti expresses the deepest appreciation to all the participants for their outstanding contributions. Mukti takes pride in organizing such events that nurture the talent and intellectual growth of our MSS students. Together, let us strive to create a sustainable future for our planet and work towards preserving the magnificence of the Sundarbans.
