On the occasion of the 163rd birth anniversary of the esteemed Nobel laureate and cultural luminary, Rabindranath Tagore, Mukti unveiled a new library at the “Muktangan” campus of Mukti Gram Purba Sridharpur on May 8th, 2024. A diverse gathering of 160 individuals, including Mukti Board members, core committee members of Purba Sridharpur and Kankandighi, local government school teachers, SAM staff, Integrated Development project members, city office staff, Mukti Support School students, and VOICE team members, graced the event.
The day commenced at 7 am with a morning procession, symbolizing the spirit of awakening and enlightenment. Mukti inaugurated the library, stocking it with an initial collection of 123 books, with the noble intention of nurturing a love for reading and cultivating healthy reading habits among the community. This initiative aims to provide access to literature for all, including the marginalized segments of society, inviting them to explore the world of knowledge within its shelves.
The event was further enriched by captivating cultural performances by MSS students and VOICE cultural team members. They presented a dance drama based on Tagore’s “Chandalika,” delving into themes of social discrimination and empowerment, followed by a soulful rendition of “Kobipronam” in the form of Gitialekhya, paying homage to the revered poet.
