Recently social media has been abuzz with discussions around a young man named Devabrata Rekhe. At just nineteen, he recited the Vedas continuously for fifty days. Some admired the effort, others mocked it. But beyond praise or ridicule lies a deeper question. It compels us to reflect on how we learn, how we internalise knowledge, and why practices rooted in memory still matter in an age dominated by artificial intelligence.
For thousands of years, India functioned as a civilisation of memory. Knowledge was not confined to books alone. It lived in the human mind, voice and daily practice. Vedic scholars did not merely memorise words. They trained in tone, rhythm and nuance, understanding that knowledge carried sound, discipline and meaning.
Today, we live in a world of abundant information. The challenge is no longer access to data, but the ability to interpret, prioritise and apply it wisely. AI has opened vast libraries at our fingertips. Yet knowing information is not the same as possessing wisdom.
This is where memory and reflective learning regain importance. Memorisation is not about storing facts. It sharpens focus, builds mental discipline and deepens understanding.
This philosophy lies at the heart of Mukti’s Education programmes. At Mukti, education is not limited to examination scores or technological proficiency. It is about nurturing the human potential within every learner. Our initiatives consciously integrate academic learning with memory, culture, critical thinking and values.
AI can be a powerful enabler in education. It expands access and accelerates learning. But Mukti believes AI must remain a tool, not a master. Technology should support human judgement, not replace it. Machines may store information, but meaning and wisdom belong to people.
The future of education will depend on this balance. Ancient practices give depth and discipline. Modern technology offers speed and scale. Mukti remains committed to building an education ecosystem where both coexist, shaping individuals who can use technology wisely while remaining deeply human.
