Community leaders of Kuyemuri, Dakshin Kashinagar, Herembogopalpur, and Purba Surendranagar villages celebrated National Girl Child Day with the support of Amplifying Community Voices (ACV) team members at Herambogopalpur GP on 24th January 2023. Four ACV field staff facilitated the program and 40 community leaders including women and adolescent groups took care of all arrangements including invitations, program content, stage performances, photography, video, audience management, stage decoration, anchoring and food. The headmaster of Kuyemuri High School, Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers, and Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) members were invited. 300 villagers from the four participating villages enjoyed the program for two and a half hours.
Through this program, community leaders took an initiative to sensitization and awareness on gender-based issues such as early child marriage, illegal abortion, etc. among the villagers. Besides dances and recitations, a drama was performed on the subject of “Marriage- centric life” (বিবাহ কেন্দ্রিক জীবন) as part of the cultural events.
