The students of Egra Sahara Mukti Support School, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal have taken the initiative to clean and disinfectant 17 blocks or villages of Sahara Gram Panchayat, which has turned into a dump yard after the flood caused by the heavy rain. To prevent waterborne diseases 60-70 students conducted the cleanliness drive with the help of their 24 teachers and 8-10 social workers/philanthropists. The cleanliness activity has been carried out with much zeal and enthusiasm by the students.
Mukti has provided 3 quintal bleaching powder, 3 quintal lime and 100 Kg phenyl which they have spread over a 12 Km area surrounding their school. The disinfection drive has been started on 1st September 2022. The students have been divided into two groups. Once a day either in the morning or in the afternoon they engaged themselves in the cleanliness work.
Through their activity, they have aware the common people on the importance of keeping the surroundings clean and hygienic.
The villagers are very happy with this act of Mukti. They said that they were expecting the government will reach with bleaching and lime but Mukti without fail has done this work with the help of the students and teachers. Mukti’s initiative has inspired the villagers. They hope Mukti will always be with them in the future too.
