Propagation of Palm Trees and Germination of Seasonal Flowers Running

Potting of Palm seedlings:

In the Mukti Library Garden of Purba Sridharpur, propagation of Palm trees has been started 3^rd October 2021, Wednesday. Mukti has bought 1,000 palm seedlings from the Muchisa plant nursery at Amtala under Bishnupur PS of South 24 Parganas district.  For the propagation purpose, Mukti is potting the seedlings in individual pots. The process will provide sufficient space for the development of each seedling and it will grow better and faster.

7 women are engaged in potting the seedlings. They are working under “Food for Work”.

The grown plants will be planted in Mukti Gram and some of them will be used as Mother plants for future propagation purposes.

Germination of seasonal flowers:

The process of germination of the seasonal flower seeds like Inca mix, Inca red and Calendula has been started in Mukti Library Garden. The seeds are spread on waterproof trays filled with coco peat and vermicompost for faster and healthier germination. The products will increase the germination rate of the seeds.

7-8 experienced Mukti nursery staff (salaried) and supervisors (works under “Food for Work”) are taking care of the germination process of these costly seeds.

Depending on the variety the seedling will establish and produce true leaves within 3-15 days. The mature plants will be planted in Mukti Gram.
