Many people were killed by the powerful cyclone ‘Amphan’ that slammed into India and Bangladesh on Wednesday 20th May, 2020, wiping out thousands of homes and drenching low-lying areas in torrential rain leaving people homeless and hungry. Amphan pummeled Sunderban, leaving a wide swath of devastation and grief.

12 days have passed till ‘Amphan’ made its landfall. Still there are thousands who are in severe need of food and shelter. The ‘community kitchen’ scheme, a nutritional meal program envisaged to address the ‘Amphan’ victims at Sonakhali No. 6 village under Basanti Gram Panchayat by Mukti.
At Sonakhali No. 6 village under Basanti Gram Panchayat Mukti has started one Community Kitchen where 180 people are fed by group of 7 women who are cooking foods for them. Among those 180 people 60 are below 20 years.
