Empowering Rural Youth Through Career Guidance, Skill Development and Digital Awareness

Mukti SURYA is strengthening its engagement with students and young people in the Raidighi region by promoting career awareness, vocational education, practical skills, employability and digital literacy. Through its outreach at Raidighi College and Subhashnagar High School, Raidighi, Chapla, students were encouraged to think beyond conventional academic pathways and prepare themselves for emerging career and livelihood opportunities.

At Raidighi College, around 250 students participated in career and skill-focused interactions. The discussions helped students understand the growing importance of practical and industry-relevant skills alongside formal education. They were encouraged to identify their interests, explore different career pathways and consider vocational training as a means of improving employability, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

Students were also introduced to skill development opportunities such as Tally GST and Electrical training offered through Mukti SURYA. The sessions highlighted how specialised, job-oriented skills can help young people become better prepared for the changing employment landscape. Mr. Paritosh Bar from the Admission Cell of Raidighi College extended his support and cooperation to the initiative.

Mukti SURYA’s engagement with students at Subhashnagar High School further expanded this effort by combining skill awareness with career-oriented learning. Students were encouraged to recognise their individual interests and abilities and understand how practical and vocational skills can complement classroom education and create new possibilities for their future.

Alongside skill development, special emphasis was placed on cyber security and responsible digital behaviour. Students learned about common online risks such as phishing, fraudulent links, OTP and password scams, fake social media profiles and online fraud. Practical guidance was also shared on using strong passwords, two-factor authentication, protecting personal information and staying cautious while using social media and other digital platforms.

The enthusiastic participation of students reflected the importance of continued guidance on career planning, employability, vocational skills and digital safety. Through sustained engagement with schools, colleges and communities, Mukti SURYA continues to support rural youth in becoming more skilled, informed and confident, enabling them to make better career choices and work towards meaningful and sustainable livelihoods.
