Learning for a Greener Tomorrow: Environmental Awareness Programme for MKSS Students

As part of its efforts to encourage awareness and responsible practices among children, Mukti Urban Project, in collaboration with Tara Devi Harakh Chand Kankaria Jain College (T.H.K. Jain College), organised an Environmental Awareness & Outreach Programme at Singhee Bagan School on 29 September 2026.

Around 15 college students and NSS volunteers, accompanied by two professors from T.H.K. Jain College, conducted the programme for approximately 75 students, primarily from Mukti Kishalaya Support Schools (MKSS).

Learning About the Environment Through Interaction

The session focused on helping children understand the importance of environmental awareness, responsible behaviour, and sustainable everyday habits.

Rather than limiting the programme to a conventional awareness session, the college students engaged the children through interactive discussions, encouraging them to think about their own role in protecting the environment and how small changes in everyday behaviour can make a difference.

A fun and interactive environmental quiz added energy to the programme, giving the children an opportunity to participate, test their knowledge, and learn new facts in an enjoyable way.

The interaction with college students and faculty members also created a different learning experience for the children, allowing them to ask questions, exchange ideas, and engage with environmental issues beyond their regular classroom activities.

Through such collaborative initiatives, Mukti Urban Project aims to create opportunities for children to develop awareness, responsibility, and positive habits from an early age, while connecting them with educational institutions and young volunteers who can contribute to their learning experiences.

The programme reflected a simple but important message: building a more sustainable future begins with helping young minds understand, care for, and take responsibility for the world around them.
