Strengthening Teachers, Strengthening Classrooms: FIRKI Training under Mukti Urban Project

As part of its continued efforts to strengthen teaching practices and create better learning environments for children, Mukti Urban Project partnered with Teach India Foundation under the FIRKI programme to organise a structured 7-day online and offline training workshop for teachers associated with Mukti Kishalaya Support Schools (MKSS) and Mukti Support Schools (MSS).

The training focused on strengthening teaching practices, leadership skills, classroom effectiveness, and the overall well-being of teachers, providing them with practical knowledge and approaches that can be incorporated into their everyday work with children.

Learning for Better Classrooms

Teachers from MKSS and MSS actively participated in the seven-day programme under the guidance of experienced and trained mentors. The sessions covered important aspects of effective teaching and classroom practices, including classroom observation, development and use of Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM), lesson plan preparation and maintenance, and creating safe, positive, and supportive classroom environments.

Teachers also explored different ways of making the learning process more engaging, enjoyable, inclusive, and meaningful for children.

Beyond introducing new teaching techniques, the workshop provided teachers with an opportunity to reflect on their existing practices, identify areas for improvement, develop new skills, and better understand their role in supporting both the learning and overall well-being of children.

Upon successfully completing the programme, the participating teachers received their Certificates of Completion, recognising their commitment to continued learning and professional development.

Continued Support Beyond the Training

The partnership extends beyond the seven-day workshop. As part of the initiative, Teach India Foundation will continue to monitor how teachers incorporate the learnings from the FIRKI programme into their classroom practices and provide handholding support wherever required.

This ongoing engagement will help teachers address practical challenges, strengthen their teaching methods, and effectively translate their training into everyday classroom practices.

The teachers now look forward to implementing their learnings across MKSS and MSS classrooms, creating learning spaces that are more engaging, inclusive, safe, supportive, and child-friendly. They also expressed interest in participating in similar learning and development opportunities in the future.

Through initiatives like the FIRKI training under the Mukti Urban Project, Mukti continues to strengthen the capacities of its teachers and invest in better learning experiences for children—recognising that empowered and supported teachers are at the heart of meaningful education.
