MUKTI Urban Project Engages Students on Emotional Wellbeing and Adolescent Health
On 7 September 2026, the MUKTI Urban Project organised a school awareness programme at Arya Kanya Mahavidyalaya for Class VIII students, focusing on two important areas of adolescent development — Emotional Wellbeing and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH).
The session on emotional wellbeing helped students understand that recognising and expressing emotions is an important part of growing up. They were encouraged to become more aware of their feelings, manage them in healthy ways and, most importantly, speak to a trusted person whenever they feel worried, confused or overwhelmed rather than keeping everything to themselves.
The ASRH session focused on helping students better understand the physical, emotional and social changes that take place during adolescence. Discussions also covered personal hygiene, body awareness, healthy relationships and the importance of making informed and responsible choices regarding one’s health and wellbeing.
Both sessions were designed to create a safe and open space where students could listen, reflect, ask questions and participate without hesitation. Their enthusiastic involvement in the discussions and activities made the programme interactive and meaningful.
Adolescence is a stage when young people experience many changes and often have questions that they may not always feel comfortable asking. Through such awareness programmes, the MUKTI Urban Project seeks to ensure that students receive age-appropriate information, emotional support and practical guidance so that they can navigate this phase with greater awareness and confidence.
The programme was an important step towards encouraging young people to understand themselves better, care for their physical and emotional health, and seek support whenever they need it.
